Your diesel truck has to work. Whether it’s a daily driver, a fleet vehicle, or a weekend tow rig, it needs to start when you turn the key and get you where you’re going without surprises. The shop you partner with matters — and after more than ten years in the bay, working exclusively on diesels, we know the difference between a fix that lasts and one that comes back in six months.
Texas Diesel Company handles the full range of diesel service: engine diagnostics and repair, transmission work, fuel system jobs, performance upgrades, and the scheduled maintenance that keeps all of it running. Every job starts with a written estimate before we turn a wrench — company policy, always. We walk through the diagnosis, share our recommendations, and keep you in the loop through every step by text, email, or phone.
Engine repair & replacement
We service complete engine repair and replacement on the three major diesel platforms:
- Ford Powerstroke — 6.0L, 6.4L, 6.7L (and 7.3L where we can still source parts)
- GM Duramax — LB7 through L5P, all six generations
- Dodge Ram Cummins — 5.9L and 6.7L, including the transmission side (47RFE, 48RFE, 68RFE)
For replacements, we offer both aftermarket rebuilt engines and OEM Ford / GM / Mopar packages. OEM replacements carry a nationwide warranty — 2 years and unlimited mileage in most cases. You’ll get the tradeoff spelled out at estimate time so the decision is yours.
Basic maintenance
Oil changes, cabin air filter replacement, alignments, injector repairs, fluid flushes, fuel filter service, glow plug work — all the scheduled service items that keep a diesel out of the shop for major repairs. Oil changes don’t require an appointment; we keep a technician dedicated to that service so walk-ins move through quickly.
Fuel systems
Fuel-system work is where a specialized diesel shop earns its reputation. CP4 pump jobs, CP3 conversions, injector replacement, fuel filter housing work, tank drops and cleans — all of it requires tooling and training a general mechanic shop doesn’t have.
We’re a direct partner with Fass Fuel Systems. For fuel-system upgrades and lift pump installs, we install Fass, AirDog, and Titan Fuel Tanks. For injectors and pumps, we work with Bosch, Industrial Injection, and OEM Ford / Mopar. Full list of parts partners is on our Brands We Use page.

Performance
From a simple bolt-on air intake to a full build, we handle the hard-parts side of performance work for every level of owner:
- Air filtration — S&B Filters, AEM Induction Systems, Banks Power, Volant.
- Hard parts — ARP head studs, Garrett turbos, Southbend clutches, Suncoast transmissions.
- Transmission builds — 68RFE, Allison, and 10R140 builds sized to your power target.
- Fuel system upgrades — CP3 conversions, DCR kits, lift pumps, injectors.
On tuning: we don’t tune in-house. Diesel tuning is a specialized domain with real legal and reliability implications, and the shops that do it well do nothing else. We’ll talk through your performance goals honestly, handle the supporting hard-parts work that makes a tune worth having, and point you to tuners we’ve worked alongside when that’s the right next step.
On emissions deletes: we don’t do emissions deletes on street-driven trucks. Federal law is clear on this, and we’re not going to put the shop or you at risk. Everything we install is compliant with the truck’s emissions configuration.
What we don’t do
We draw the line at medium-duty trucks in the F-550 / 5500 class. Anything larger than that — semi-trucks, big rigs, commercial over-the-road vehicles — is not our specialty. We also work on skid steers, small tractors, and side-by-sides (Polaris, Can-Am, Honda, Kawasaki) — those aren’t pickup diesels, but our shop has the tooling and the crew for them.

What’s your labor rate?
Starting at $215 per hour for diesel repair work. Final pricing depends on labor, parts, and diagnostic findings — we walk through the estimated hours on any job with you before you approve.
Do you charge for diagnostics?
Our diagnosis fee is $235 out the door, and it includes a complimentary photo-and-video 35-point basic inspection — a documented look at your truck’s condition, not just a verbal “it’s probably the such-and-such.” Want a deeper look? Upgrade to a 100-point inspection for $50 more. Whatever we find feeds straight into the written estimate, which you approve before any work begins.
Will you quote before starting work?
Always. It’s company policy — no work is performed without prior consent and a signature on file. You’ll get a written estimate before we touch a wrench, and we keep you in the loop through the job by text, email, or phone.
Do you use OEM parts?
When OEM parts are available, we prefer them — they carry the 2-year unlimited-mileage warranty, and they fit. When OEM isn’t available or aftermarket makes more sense for the use case, we’ll walk you through the tradeoff before deciding. The choice is yours.
