Texas Diesel Company is the closest specialized diesel repair shop to Sherman — about 15 miles south on US-75, roughly a 20-minute drive to our shop in Van Alstyne. A meaningful share of our regular customers call Sherman home, and we’ve built relationships with local fleet operators across Grayson County.
Why Sherman residents come to us
Sherman has its share of general auto repair shops, but very few specialize in diesel pickups and even fewer have the OEM factory diagnostic software for all three major platforms (Ford, GM, Dodge). For owners who need real diesel expertise — not someone learning on your truck — the 20-minute drive south is the trade-off most Sherman customers make once they’ve worked with us.
The pattern we hear from Sherman owners: they took the truck somewhere local, the shop guessed at the diagnosis, parts got swapped without fixing the actual problem, and they ended up at our shop after burning money on repairs that didn’t hold. We focus on diagnosing first and quoting second, which usually means a more accurate first-quote and less back-and-forth on the same issue.
Who we serve in Sherman
Sherman has a diverse diesel base:
- Manufacturing fleet operators — Sherman has industrial and manufacturing employers (Texas Instruments’ Sherman fab being the largest) that run support fleets of diesel pickups for facilities work, materials handling, and contractor work
- Construction and trades — Sherman is in a growth corridor, with a lot of new residential and commercial construction served by diesel work trucks
- Agriculture — Grayson County still has working farms and ranches that depend on diesel for daily operations
- Daily-driver owners — Sherman residents commuting to Plano, McKinney, Dallas, or working from home with their diesel as the primary household truck
- Performance enthusiasts — Sherman has a real diesel community, and we see plenty of project trucks for builds
If your truck is a work asset or your daily driver, we keep it earning. If it’s a project, we do the kind of work most general shops can’t.
What we do
Full-scope diesel repair and performance:
- Engine diagnostics and repair for all Ford Power Stroke generations (6.0L, 6.4L, 6.7L, 7.3L), Cummins 5.9L and 6.7L, and Duramax LB7 through L5P
- Transmission work — rebuilds and upgrades for Ford, GM, and Dodge automatics
- Performance hard-parts — fuel system upgrades, intake and filtration, hard parts (billet turbos, CP3 conversions, ARP studs). Tuning is a specialized domain we don’t do in-house — happy to point you to trusted tuners.
- DCR conversion for 6.7L Power Stroke (DCR Conversion service)
- Custom work — lift kits, wheels and tires, accessories
- Maintenance — full menu, with same-day turnaround on most service work if scheduled ahead
If you’re not sure whether your issue is something we handle, call us and we’ll tell you straight whether it’s worth bringing in.
